About this book

The 92 words your child cannot sound out — and cannot read without.

Sight words like the, said, was, come break the phonics rules, and they make up roughly half of everything a beginner reads. This book practices all 92 words of the Dolch pre-primer and primer lists — the standard pre-K and kindergarten set — one full page per word, in the order schools teach them: all 40 pre-primer words first, then all 52 primer words, every page numbered Word 1 of 92 through 92 of 92 so you both always know where you are.

  • Read it. Trace it. Write it. Find it. — every word page works the same four ways, taught by a walked-through example page first; one page takes about five minutes — one word a day is the whole routine
  • School-true handwriting lines — the three-line ruling school paper uses, with letters that sit exactly on the lines, in one consistent school-style font from the big model to the last sentence
  • Tracing that fades — dashed letters with starting dots, then models at both ends of the row (left-handed kids never lose the example), then three empty lines with the model still in view
  • Find-and-circle rows — circle the word three times among real look-alike words: was and saw look alike on purpose, so this trains letter-by-letter attention, not word-shape guessing
  • 12 picture sentences — every sentence uses only words from this book plus one pictured noun, so your child reads real sentences with words they know
  • Review pages and speed rounds — color a star for every word read fast, climb the Sight Word Ladder part by part, and earn the certificate at the end

For Pre-K and Kindergarten (ages 3–6), in a big 8.5 × 8.5 inch format. Pencil work on both sides of every page. Works for first learning, summer review before the school year, or extra practice for a child who needs it — at home, in the classroom, or homeschooling.
