About this book

Every clue is true — and every case has exactly one answer.

Twenty-two friendly Halloween mysteries, and each one is a little quest with three steps. Solve the maze — two things you can reach, one is sealed away, and the ghost holding it is cleared. Do the puzzle — the odd one out, the culprit's trail, a lucky number to count, or a clue to color — and it points at the culprit's thing. Then read the clues, cross out ghosts, and unmask the one who did it. TWO ghosts always share the culprit's thing, so the clues always matter — no shortcuts, no guessing.

  • 22 solve-it cases with four ghost suspects each — 158 clues, and every case checked by computer to have exactly ONE answer
  • Case 0, solved together — a worked example teaches the three steps before your child solves alone
  • Escape the Witch's House: 8 rooms, 8 mazes, 8 door codes from real sums — collect every code on the map page, and the last door opens onto the party
  • 14 midnight mazes between cases — every maze in this book is solvable, by construction
  • Detective ranks: rank up at cases 5, 11, 17 and 22, color your full-page MASTER DETECTIVE badge, and earn the certificate
  • Nothing scary. Every ghost is friendly, the witch is out, and the house is dark and creaky rather than anything worse

For ages 5–8, in a big 8.5 × 8.5 inch format. A pencil-and-crayon book: both sides of every page are real puzzles — no filler.
